So I’ve been very busy because some unexpected things happened with a current project that I’m working on, so I have to be on call in a way.
I decided that I’m not going to force myself to write in this blog when I don’t have any business news because then it would just be full of useless posts that I forced myself to write, and nothing contextual, or even useful.
My friend and I are going to start fixing computers where I live. We live in a sort of cross-metropolitan where 6 cities connect to form one, it’s pretty cool, but technology is just beginning to be imminent, and we think that we have an early start in this market. Geek Squad is already here, but I’ve been fixing computers for friends for years, and actually for hundreds of people that weren’t friends I just never incorporated, so that’s what we’re going to do.
On top of not having a business name or an overall plan for the service I was providing in the past, I never even advertised or had business cards. I stilled fixed at least 50-100 computers a year. I also charged $30 an hour, I used to charge $120 an hour, but I think now because of the condition the market is in, we’ve agreed on $60 an hour to be competitive, and stay profitable.
Because I’m primarily a software developer/web designer we will be offering our main service as PC/Mac repair. Over that, we will offer web solutions like hosting, support, web design, print design, marketing, etc.
As well as residential services like setting up wi-fi, home networking, file sharing, and computer services we will be offering business services the same as residential, but we will offer benefits like monthly retainers, training, phoen support, etc.
We will also be offering some non-traditional services like a Premium rate phone number for technical support, email based support for a fee, and live support via a chat program on our website. This will all be charged but it seems the most effective because there will be 4 of us to start off.
There’s your update. I will write again soon.
